Vision
St. Vincent’s Immigration Law Clinic was established in 2020 to respond to the needs of low income, aspiring citizens and other immigrants to the USA.
Our faith compels us to use our most cherished values as the root of our decisions. Jesus Christ was clear: The two great commandments are to love God and to love our neighbor as ourselves. The Declaration of Independence signifies that our founding fathers agreed. They held these truths to be self-evident: that all are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
The location of one’s birth cannot discharge an inalienable truth. At St Vincent’s Immigration Law Clinic, our Catholic values of family unity, integrity and justice call us to defend these truths.
Operating from the local parish of Maternidad BVM of Humboldt Park in Chicago, Illinois, St. Vincent’s provides immigration legal services to local parishioners of San Jose Luis del Rio Parish and others who live in the Chicago area. See our Services page for more specific information.
Sister Mary Ellen Lacy DC, Managing Partner
Sister Mary Ellen Lacy is a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. She answers the gospel call to welcome the stranger and serve those who suffer from the injustice of poverty through her practice of Immigration Law. Presently located in Humboldt Park, Illinois, Sister Mary Ellen Lacy is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Alabama and the District of Columbia. Her areas of specialty include family immigration and humanitarian relief situations. She accepts cases that involve:
- Adjustment of status and renewal of Green card
- Naturalization/citizenship
- U visas for crime victims
- Violence Against Women visas
- Temporary protected status
- Work Permits
- DACA applications
Services are free to those who cannot afford an attorney.
La Hermana Mary Ellen Lacy es una Hija de la Caridad de San Vincente de Paúl. Ella responde al llamado del evangelio para recibir al extraño y servir a los que sufren la injusticia de la pobreza a través de su práctica de la Ley de Inmigración. Actualmente ubicada en Humboldt Park, Illinois, la hermana Mary Ellen Lacy tiene licencia para ejercer la abogacía en Illinois, Alabama y el Distrito de Columbia.
